Coronavirus Patient Screening Notice for attending Acupuncture Appointments from July 2020 until further notice:

Notice regarding return to Acupuncture Practice

From July 4th 2020, The British Acupuncture Council has given their members the go ahead to restart careful clinical practice. Treatment sessions are currently undertaken with appropriate PPE equipment, clinical hygiene procedures during the treatment session and extra disinfecting measures carried out in the clinic between patients. This means patients are again welcome to see me for acupuncture, pending health screening.

Before you book an appointment with me, please read the Health Screening Guidelines below:

If you have been experiencing any of the following symptoms, or been in contact with anybody who has experienced any of the following symptoms within 14 days leading up to your appointment, you must comply with the UK official guidelines as indicated on the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/

Main symptoms
The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.

What to do if you have symptoms
If you have any of the main symptoms of coronavirus:

  1. Cancel your appointment with as much notice as possible (preferably a minimum of 24 hours notice where possible so that Louise can offer the appointment to someone else).

  2. Stay at home (self-isolate)

  3. Get a test to see if you have COVID-19. Anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, should also get a test if they have symptoms.

You can restart acupuncture treatment if you can answer yes to at least one of the three statements below.

Statement 1:
You have tested negative for coronavirus.

Statement 2:
You, or anyone with which you have had recent contact, has been free of coronavirus symptoms as follows:

  • 3 days with no fever and

  • Respiratory symptoms have improved (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) and

  • 10 days since symptoms first appeared

Statement 3:
You have observed the minimum self-isolation period of 14 days and have been free of coronavirus symptoms for a minimum of 72 hours before attending your appointment.
